POSITION TITLE: Cook   

Hours: Varies by shift 

Availability: Minimum of 2 days per week, weekend work mandatory

Wages: $15-$17 per hour

DEPARTMENT: Dietary

REPORTS TO: Food Service Director  

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The essential functions of the job for the Cook requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED 
  • Culinary School education is a bonus
  • 1 year of cooking experience in a healthcare setting is a bonus
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensure timely preparation of all meals.
  • Knife handling   
  • Utilize kitchen equipment during food preparation.
  • Abie to read and follow recipes
  • Knowledge of modified diets
  • Dishwashing
  • Kitchen and dining sanitation
  • Serve food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperatures
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements

annual health REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
  •     Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  •     Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
