Server
Description

Dining services · Full time · Encino, California

Hospitality that dignifies a life well lived.

The Vered is looking for a Server — a host who believes our residents have earned dining that honors them, and delivers it with grace three times a day.

About the Vered: We believe vitality is a building material — and the dining room is where it shows first. The Vered is a modern senior living community on Ventura Boulevard in Encino, built on a simple conviction: the later chapters of life deserve the same craft, warmth and hospitality as any fine hotel. Our residents are not customers passing through. They are neighbors we serve three times a day, every day — which means service here compounds. A table set with care on Tuesday earns trust by Friday.

Our dining team runs restaurant-caliber rooms with genuine hospitality at the center. We treat each other the way we wish

to be treated in return — and we promote the people who prove it.

Join our Team: The Server is the face of every meal at The Vered — responsible for table service in our community dining rooms, from a properly set table to a graciously answered question about tonight's menu. You will know your guests by name, learn their preferences, and shape the moment of the day residents look forward to most. We are looking for someone with courtesy, tact and graciousness — who takes pride in a well-run station and works in close cooperation with residents, guests, families and peers.

What to Expect: Not just a job.  A dining room with a longer horizon than a dinner rush.

  • Real earning power. Competitive hourly pay — above typical hotel service rates —  with a defined path into lead server and dining management roles.
  • Hours you can live with.  No 1 A.M. closes. Predictable meal service scheduled posted in advance — a rarity in this trade.
  • Full Benefits.  Medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off that accrues from day one.
  • Shift Meals. Eat what the kitchen cooks. Daily meals with every shift, plus tasting whenever the menu turns.
  • Grow your craft. Paid certifications, fine dining service training, and mentorship from a restaurant caliber culinary team.
  • Work that matters. Serve people you know by name, and see the difference gracious service makes — 3xs a day.
  • A full time schedule with schedule built at least two weeks ahead.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Set tables and maintain your workstation in proper order — the room should look ready before the first guest arrives.
  • Take orders and provide service and requested items both graciously and courteously, anticipating needs before they're voiced.
  • Answer questions about menu items with confidence — origin, preparation, and tonight's specials.
  • Clear dishes from tables during and after meal service, keeping the room composed throughout.
  • Record meal checks, reservations and additional charges accurately on the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Help maintain a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests — and lend a hand with dishwashing and clean-dish distribution when the team needs it.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in all work areas, along with personal hygiene and dress-code standards.
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks and attend in-service training and education sessions.
  • Take on specific duties as assigned by your supervisor — service is a team sport.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of one year of serving experience, with a current state-required sanitation certification (Safe Food Handling and/or Certified Food Manager).
  • Fine-dining experience in a hotel, restaurant or club is preferred — and we will train the right person. A high school diploma is preferred.
  • You bring the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively; to interpret and explain the menu, answer or refer questions, and coordinate the meal service process; and complete knowledge of point of-sale (POS) systems, including recording meal checks, reservations and additional charges.
