Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer with a strong background in SolidWorks CAD/CAM simulation software and CNC programming. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in milling and multi-axis turning, and will play a key role in quoting, Lean Manufacturing, process design, first piece setup of new products, and problem-solving within our production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for precision-machined components.
- Take a project from concept to production.
- Creates and revises process routings for new, recurring, and rework job orders.
- Create and modify CAD/CAM models using SolidWorks for CNC programming.
- Advanced CNC Programming and machining & milling experience.
- Collaborate with Set-up Techs and production teams to ensure efficient set-up and operation of milling and lathe machines.
- Lead quoting efforts by analyzing part complexity, material, and machining time.
- Provide CNC automation solutions to improve throughput and reduce manual labor.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a precision machine shop environment.
- 5 years of experience in SolidWorks CAD/CAM and CNC programming.
- 5-Axis milling and 7-axis lathe experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of milling and lathe operations.
- Experience with quoting and estimating manufacturing jobs.
- Familiarity with automation technologies and process improvement tools. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong project management and communication abilities.
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, and typically a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, or firearms manufacturing.
- Knowledge of GD&T, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and other employees, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding, carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
