Zuern Building Products & Design Center is currently looking for the right person to join our Operations team at our Slinger location. Must be available Monday through Friday. This role offers the right candidate the potential to develop new skills with career advancement opportunities.


Job Summary:

The shipping lead is responsible for working alongside the distribution manager setting the example and providing direction in the operation of the distribution center. This is accomplished by leading the staff to provide excellent customer service to customers and to ensure company processes and policies are followed.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enforce and follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Load materials for delivery in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Load customer orders processed by the sales team.
  • Direct and support the drivers and driving team on a daily basis to ensure safe, efficient, and professional operations.
  • Coordinate daily delivery schedules, truck capacity, workforce assignments, second-shift priorities, restocking activities, and next-day load preparation in partnership with the Dispatcher and Distribution Manager.
  • Stock and maintain products in designated bins and storage locations.
  • Implement and maintain a process for double-checking all deliveries through physical counts and approvals to ensure order accuracy before leaving the yard.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the Distribution Manager, Dispatcher, and other leads regarding operational updates, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate job expectations, provide direction, monitor performance, and support team success.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and developing team members.
  • Help maintain warehouse and yard organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping, including sweeping aisles, straightening product, and removing scrap materials.
  • Ensure proper care, handling, and protection of materials to prevent damage.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory control processes as assigned.
  • Fill in for members of the driving team when needed.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Fork lift certification required
  2. Excellent customer service skills.
  3. Ability to lift and carry 25 to over 100 pounds on a consistent basis. Possible weight of 125 pounds and over at times.
  4. Alert, focused and detail-oriented.
  5. Physically and mentally fit
  6. Self starter who works well independently as well as the ability to work well with others when needed
  7. Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
