Volunteer as a Mountain Host!


Spirit Mountain is looking for passionate volunteers who want to share their love of Spirit Mountain with guests as part of the Volunteer Mountain Host Team during the winter season. Mountain Hosts commit to providing exceptional guest service within the resort and on the mountain while sking or snowboarding throughout the winter season, scheduling days from December through April. As ambassadors of Spirit Mountain, members of the host team excel in providing information, giving directional help, problem-solving and offering friendly guest assistance in everyway. 


Available Types of Hosts:

  • Outdoor Host: This host is primarily located outdoors helping guests park, with gear, way find, etc. 
  • Indoor Host: Provide a warm welcome to guests, offer information about the resort, and direct visitors to various services and activities. Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, handing out brochures, or helping out in Guest Services and/or walking around the chalet to be a chalet "monitor" or wayfinder.
  • Ski School Host: Support our educational programs by assisting instructors with youth ski lessons or outdoor school programming. Help with the rental process or instructional spaces on the lesson hill for workshops or group lessons. Guide school groups during their visits, ensuring a fun and educational experience on the slopes.
  • Ski Patrol: Join our volunteer ski patrol team and help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests. Responsibilities may include answering first aid calls, providing first aid, monitoring trail conditions, providing assistance on the slopes, restocking first aid stations, and supporting the team during special events or busy weekends. All ski patrol members are volunteers dedicated to maintaining a safe environment on the mountain.



Important Details:

  • Schedule: Mountain Hosts will be invited to the pre-season orientation at the beginning of December where you will receive all of the information about scheduling your hours, reporting, and getting your $1 pass.
  • Voluntary Positions Only: These roles are entirely voluntary and are not intended to replace or displace any union-covered work.
  • Flexible Commitment: We welcome volunteers based on their availability and preferred involvement. There is no minimum time requirement.
  • Volunteer Incentives: While this is a volunteer role, participants may be eligible for a seasonal pass for a nominal fee ($1) as a token of appreciation.
Requirements
  • A passion for the Outdoors, Duluth, Spirit Mountain, and/or Volunteering.
  • A fun, team orientated attitude.
