Job Summary
This position is integral to ensuring the efficient and courteous delivery of blood products to our hospital partners across the Central California Blood Center service area. It is responsible for assisting in leading and guiding our Product Management staff, facilitating seamless communication with hospitals, and managing blood inventory. The position also assists department management in developing an Above the Line culture within the department. Additional responsibilities include participating in the validation of shipping containers, performing temperature testing, and acting as an additional REES administrator. The position demonstrates excellent communication skills, a commitment to exceptional customer service, and a dedication to upholding the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
Essential Responsibilities
· Provides support and guidance to Product Management staff, ensuring high standards of performance
· Provides oversight to the overall operational effectiveness of the department
· Provides direction where necessary
· Ensures daily communication with hospital partners regarding blood product deliveries and estimated arrival times, ensuring seamless coordination
· Assists department management in efficiently managing blood inventory, including importing blood products from other facilities
· Provides feedback to department management on team member performance and suggestions for enhancing departmental efficiency and effectiveness
· Performs training of new staff
· Participates in validation of shipping containers
· Participates in shipping temperature testing
· Participates as an additional REES administrator
· Handles incoming client calls efficiently with excellent phone etiquette and professionalism
· Fulfills orders and transport blood products to hospital partners
· Picks up and delivers blood product orders, specimens, equipment, supplies to facilities across Fresno, Mariposa, Merced, Kings, and Tulare counties
· Directs client complaints or questions to relevant departments promptly
· Escalates significant issues to management for resolution
· Cultivates positive client relationships
· Maintains accurate records and document processes effectively
· Identifies potential client service issues and implements proactive intervention measures
· Manages blood inventory efficiently, including importing blood products from other facilities
· Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations, including blood handling process
· Immediately reports any compliance issues to department management
· Monitors and maintain Hospital Services equipment and vehicles, updating records and charts as necessary
· Performs data quality control checks on storage equipment and shipping procedures
· Performs corrective action for unscheduled storage alarms and documentation of equipment maintenance, as needed
· Attends all 1:1 and department meetings as scheduled

· This position requires consistent, on-time attendance in accordance with company policy. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may impact performance and employment status.

Qualifications and Skills
Education/Licenses/Experience
· High school diploma or GED, required
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, biology, or related field preferred
· 2+ years of experience in blood banking, blood product distribution, hospital services, medical transportation, and working with hospitals/laboratories
· Must have a valid California driver’s license, and a clean driving history with no major violations in the last five years
· At least 6 months of training experience

· Previous experience in customer service or a related field preferred
· Must demonstrate courteous and professional phone and written communication skills

· Strong interpersonal and recordkeeping skills
· Willingness to accept additional hours where necessary to meet operational needs
· Prior computer skills using Microsoft Office (primarily MS Word and Outlook)
