Summary:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Language and Equity Services or designee, the interpreter provides specialized Spanish- English interpretation services to individuals or groups for whom interpretation services have been requested. interpretation services are provided primarily to the medical system but also to community organizations, businesses, groups, or individuals under contract with Ibero.

- Provide professional, accurate, impartial, and culturally responsive Spanish- English interpretation across a wide range of settings, including medical, community, business, educational, social service, and other professional environments, maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate ethical standards. - Interpret spoken communication accurately while preserving the meaning, intent, tone, and register of the speaker, without adding, omitting, or altering information.
- Adapt interpreting techniques and communication approaches to the setting, participants, subject matter, and communication needs of the individuals being served.
- Maintain and continually develop language proficiency, interpreting skills, subject-matter knowledge, and professional competencies through formal and informal training, continuing education, and other professional development opportunities.
- Participate in agency-required training and professional development activities, both within and outside of Ibero, as applicable to the role.
- Comply with Ibero policies and procedures, applicable professional standards and codes of ethics, and all confidentiality and privacy requirements relevant to interpreting services.
- Other functions as determined by the Director of Language and Equity Services or designee.

Skills and Abilities:
- Have at least 40 hours of Medical Interpreter Training or other Interpreter training from an education-accredited organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical, general, community, education, entrepreneurship and business terminology in Spanish and English.
- Experience with document translation preferred.
- Demonstrated basic skills in simultaneous interpretation and sigh translation, with intermediate to advanced skills in consecutive interpretation.
- CCHI or NBCMI certification preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience providing interpretation services.
- Demonstrated language skills in Spanish and English.
- Possession of a valid N.Y.S. driver’s license is preferred.
- Ability to work when appointments are scheduled and periodically travel for training seminars.
- A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO.
Physical Demands:
The position does require occasional standing.
