Description
Silver Mountain is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Ski Instructors to teach students of all ages and abilities to ski, ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience on the slopes .
Responsibilities:
- Instruct private and group lessons to students of various skill levels, ages, and learning abilities.
- Teach proper skiing techniques, including turns, stops, and overall technique, according to resort and industry standards (e.g., PSIA/AASI standards).
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students by monitoring their progress and behavior, and promoting skier responsibility (e.g., Skier's Responsibility Code).
- Assist students with proper equipment use, fitting, and maintenance.
- Help students with loading and unloading lifts and provide physical assistance when needed.
- Perform student evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Respond to emergencies, administer first aid, and implement injury prevention strategies.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the ski school.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest skiing techniques and safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as assisting with rental equipment or helping in the ski school office.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven skiing experience and a passion for the sport.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
- Patience and the ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
- Physical fitness and stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods and work in various weather conditions.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of different skiing terrains and conditions.
- Professionalism and a strong commitment to customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent (or higher).
Working Conditions:
- Work will be performed in a dynamic outdoor environment with varying weather conditions (e.g., cold, snow, wind, sun).
- Must be able to stand, walk, and ski for extended periods.
- Requires the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must provide and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
