Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical production equipment, plant machinery, and power systems. This role supports safe and efficient production by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, completing repairs, and helping identify process improvements.


The ideal candidate is safety-focused, hands-on, and comfortable working from work orders, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and verbal instructions while minimizing disruption to production.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical production equipment, plant machinery, and power systems.
  • Work from work orders, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, code manuals, written instructions, and verbal direction.
  • Maintain electrical systems and subsystems for plant machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist in determining the extent of mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Disassemble motors, clean components, and replace or adjust brushes, commutators, and bearings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and related systems.
  • Check electrical systems, controls, wiring, and related components.
  • Tear down systems as needed to diagnose and complete repairs.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, wiring, and electrical components.
  • Reassemble and test equipment using electrical measuring devices.
  • Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain electrical supply inventory and request replenishments as needed.
  • Complete maintenance reports, records, and required documentation.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Follow all safety rules, company policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, quality, and service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Prior maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment repair experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining production equipment, plant machinery, electrical systems, or power systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and written instructions.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, controls, motors, wiring, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience using electrical measuring devices and standard maintenance tools.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, and complete repairs safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to report issues, concerns, and completed work accurately.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • May be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and work around machinery throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to safely use tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance work.
  • The noise level in the work environment may vary based on production activity.
