Position Overview


Clark Dietz is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Lexington, KY office. This position will provide planning, design and construction services to municipal and county clients for water resource projects including water distribution, storage and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment and stormwater management and related infrastructure.

  

This position may be based out of our Lexington, KY office. 

Requirements
  • Applies engineering principles to develop solutions for municipal infrastructure improvements, including evaluating performance and life cycle costs.
  • Assists with project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, field data collection, site surveys, and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Performs engineering design tasks, including hydraulic calculations, quantity estimates, and equipment selection for water distribution, sanitary sewer, stormwater, lift station, and pump systems.
  • Creates engineering drawings and models using company standards and designated CAD/modeling software with limited guidance.
  • Prepares or assists with reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents, and permit applications.
  • Provides construction phase services, including reviewing shop drawings, submittals, change orders, RFIs, punch lists, and contractor as-builts, while maintaining project documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, contractors, owners/operators, and project stakeholders through correspondence, meetings, construction site activities, and project coordination.

Qualifications 

  • B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and a valid Kentucky PE license required.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and supporting construction of municipal water resources infrastructure, including water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems.
  • Experience with water/wastewater treatment plant process design, wet weather (CSO/SSO) evaluation, and/or hydrologic/hydraulic analysis is preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D required; experience with WaterCAD, SWMM, GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, BioWin, or similar software is desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage tasks, delegate to junior staff and technicians, interpret codes and plans, and travel to project sites as needed.

  • Starting salary range: $86,528– $101,920 + annual performance bonus.
