We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Make Ready/Shop Hand Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with reciprocating engines, compressors, and auxiliary equipment—disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling components to ensure everything runs safely and efficiently. You’ll use precision tools, collaborate closely with your team, and take pride in producing work that meets the highest mechanical and quality standards.
If you’re mechanically minded, organized, and passionate about doing the job right the first time, we’d love to hear from you!
Essential Job Functions:
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble reciprocating engine and compressor components and auxiliary equipment.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges) to ensure parts meet dimensional specifications.
- Analyze inspection results and collaborate with team members to develop effective repair plans.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and organization of disassembled components to prevent damage or loss.
- Reassemble repaired or replaced components following technical specifications and quality standards.
- Verify and sign off on completed work to confirm compliance with safety and quality protocols.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and share technical knowledge with teammates.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and mechanical inspection tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and repair processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Must be able to pass the background and MVR check, drug and alcohol screen, and physical exam.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Physical Demands:
This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally heavier loads with assistance or mechanical lifting devices. Work involves frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, parts, and precision instruments, requiring fine motor skills and attention to detail. The role is performed primarily in a shop or field environment with exposure to noise, heat, oil, grease, and other industrial conditions. The ability to wear required personal protective equipment—including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots—is essential, as is sufficient visual and auditory acuity to safely operate tools and equipment and identify mechanical irregularities.
Our Benefits:
At NGSG, we take care of our people. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance, including:
