Job Summary
At Hotel Savoy Kansas City, the Accounting Manager serves as the primary financial resource for the property. This role is fully responsible for handling all day-to-day accounting operations, accurate financial reporting, monthly close, and compliance with Avion and Hilton standards. The Accounting Manager supports the hotel by maintaining strong controls, ensuring accuracy across all financial functions, and providing reliable information that helps leaders make informed decisions.
This is a hands-on role that requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage the hotel’s accounting processes while partnering closely with the General Manager and the Avion corporate finance team.
What You’ll Do
Daily Accounting Operations
- Complete the daily income audit and ensure all revenue postings, adjustments, and cash deposits balance.
- Reconcile credit card batches, research variances, and resolve issues promptly.
- Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, approvals, and weekly payment runs.
- Manage accounts receivable billing, group folios, collections, and posting of payments.
- Maintain petty cash and verify cash handling practices across the hotel.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to support a timely and accurate month-end close.
- Reconcile all assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure proper documentation is on file.
- Assist with producing monthly financial reports and support variance explanations.
- Maintain accurate records for occupancy tax, sales tax, and TMD reporting.
Compliance, Systems & Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to Avion Hospitality and Hilton accounting standards and SOPs.
- Maintain internal controls related to cash handling, invoice approval, deposit security, and system permissions.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing reports and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate vendor files, W-9s, contracts, and certificates of insurance.
Support to Hotel Leadership
- Provide financial information to department heads in a clear, helpful, and timely manner.
- Assist with payroll reporting, labor tracking, and related administrative tasks.
- Help leaders understand their expenses, coding practices, and forecasting tools.
- Communicate proactively about financial issues, risks, or discrepancies.

What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience; hotel accounting strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of income audit, AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience with PMS/POS systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
