POSITION: Project Environmental or Civil Engineer


POSITION SUMMARY


A rare and exceptional opportunity for a Project Engineer to be a part of AEI’s well-established Site Mitigation Engineering team. Depending upon experience level, the candidate will work alongside and/or under the mentorship of Senior and Principal Engineers both locally and nationally. Candidate will be responsible for implementing subsurface and remedial investigations and preparing reports, developing, and implementing mitigation and remedial designs, advocating for our clients with regulatory agencies, preparing Client proposals, communicating project needs to internal and external teams, and supporting AEI’s growth in the environmental industry.


LOCATION 


Location within CA is flexible with Walnut Creek preferred, followed by El Segundo/Los Angeles. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experienced technical writer with ability to prepare winning technical proposals and project report deliverables 
  • Project management of simple and complex projects with appropriate supervision
  • Ability to understand and track project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and anticipate potential modifications and need for change orders
  • Responsible for implementing and/or overseeing field investigation work
  • Responsible for remedial design, implementation, operation, reviews, and oversight with appropriate senior level support
  • Primary and support author for technical report writing
  • Ability to interpret data and has a strategic understanding of required next steps
  • Preparation of remedial cost estimates and environmental peer reviews
  • Has strong subcontractor relationships and on-boarding of subcontractors
  • Maintains a current and thorough understanding of local and federal environmental regulations
  • Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goal of approximately 85%
  • Work collaboratively with Senior and Principal Engineers and Geologists 
  • Support training and oversight of junior staff
  • Upholds a strong work ethic and demonstrates high quality technical consulting work
  • Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Approximately 5-7+ years of previous experience performing environmental site characterization and investigations, and developing remediation and/or mitigation action plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen
  • Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor and project manager; willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, as necessary (i.e., client management, cost estimating, business development support, field work, report writing and review, etc.); and ability to think critically through a project from conception to completion
  • A self-starter, resourceful, with attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines
  • While an Engineer in Training (EIT) or licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is desired, alternative education and licenses will be considered if candidate is strongly engineering minded with similar experience

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in science related field with civil or environmental engineering preferred

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Engineering minded candidate is required
  • EIT/PE preferred
  • Current OSHA 40-hour "HAZWOPER" training certification strongly preferred; additional Health and Safety training a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The work environment may be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office, and/or field equipment, speak and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to travel independently and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.

$100,000 - $150,000, aligned with qualifications
