Job Summary

The HVAC Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of both HVAC Mechanical the HVAC automated control systems that regulate the machinery and equipment within our facilities. This role involves working with a variety of technologies, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The ideal candidate has strong Building Controls and HVAC problem-solving abilities and technical skills ,with a commitment to ensuring operational efficiency and safety. 

Responsibilities

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and calibrate new and existing Mechanical and control systems proficient with components, including sensors, actuators, and panels.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems with electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems to minimize operational interruptions.
  • Programming: Perform programming and modifications for PLCs, HMIs, and other control software as needed.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on both mechanical and control systems to preempt failures and optimize system reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineers and other departments to implement new systems, execute upgrades, and provide on-site technical support.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance, repair activities, system configurations, and project documentation. Update all reference drawings and documents when offices and buildings are changed/renovated.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all control systems adhere to safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and National Electrical Codes.
  • Training: Assist in training IMCBA personnel on the technical aspects of new or modified processes and equipment. 


Requirements

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, electrical engineering technology, automation, mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Proven experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and control systems. Experience with specific systems like Johnson Controls, Trane Controls, and Automated Logic is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.

Strong knowledge of wiring standards and experience working with a range of AC and DC voltages.

Familiarity with various types of HVAC and Building equipment. Must be experienced with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibrators.
