Supervisor: Banquet & Concessions Manager (with direction from Banquet Captains) 

FLSA Category: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: At Will

Position Status: Part-time (hours vary depending on events)

Annual Salary: $16.90 / hourly rate plus service fees

Position Objective: 

The Banquet Attendant/Setup is responsible for serving, setting up, tearing down, and providing service at all banquets, events, and banquet-related food and beverage operations for CCAE.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Customer Service:

  • Serving food and answering guest questions in a cordial, efficient and professional manner.
  • Ensuring that the food and beverage is served timely, maintaining a consistent presentation and proper temperature.
  • Responding to all guest requests. As needed, requesting assistance from Captain or Manager.
  • Immediately communicating special requests, guest problems, or concerns to Captain or Manager.

Event Operations:

  • Setting rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and supervisor instructions.
  • Attending staff set-up and technical training as requested.
  • Assisting in inventories of food, beverages, equipment, meeting supplies, china, glass, and silverware, on a pre-determined schedule.
  • Organizing equipment for the functions.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and looking after equipment during and after functions.
  • Making sure all storerooms are clean, organized, and secured.
  • Following all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure and energy efficient.
  • Adhering to all department and Center-wide policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the proper handling and cleaning of all equipment, china, glass, and silver.
  • Attending all department, full staff, and other meetings and trainings as required by management.

Health / Safety:

  • Following all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
  • Attending all safety meetings as required by management.

Performing other related duties as assigned.
 

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • At least one-year of formal experience as Banquet Server for a conference center banquet facility or full service hotel or restaurant operation, required.
  • Able to work overtime if needed
  • Must wear appropriate uniform at all times
  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Excellent oral communication skills required.
  • Positive interpersonal skills required

License/Qualifications:

Food Handlers Card required must be obtained after time of hire. 


Physical demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Must be able to stand / walk for 6 or more hours, walk for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly
  • Ability to speak and hear
  • Identify and distinguish colors

  • May be indoor or outdoor setting depending on the event
  • Varied weather conditions are expected
  • Noise levels vary, but can be high during events, shows, etc.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictate.
