Enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and helping maintain spaces the community uses every day? As a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker, you’ll assist with the care, upkeep, and improvement of the City’s parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, and public open spaces.

This entry-level seasonal position performs a wide range of maintenance duties involving grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment. Typical work includes mowing and maintaining athletic fields and open spaces; caring for trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf; maintaining irrigation systems; inspecting and repairing playgrounds and park amenities; performing minor building maintenance; and supporting recreation programs and special events.

Work is performed primarily outdoors in all types of weather and generally involves full-time hours, with schedules that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs (with summer flexibility).

• Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions 
• Be able to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting, digging, shoveling, raking, mowing, and standing or walking for long durations 
• Be reliable, organized, and able to follow established routines, schedules, and safety procedures 
• Be able to work independently or as part of a team 
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Basic knowledge of equipment, materials, and methods used in grounds and facility maintenance 
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn and turf equipment, and maintenance machinery 
• Working knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions 
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions 

Typical duties may include (but are not limited to):

• Mowing and maintaining parks, athletic fields, and open spaces 
• Maintaining irrigation systems and assisting with sprinkler repair and installation 
• Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining playground equipment, courts, park furniture, restrooms, and drinking fountains 
• Performing minor building maintenance such as painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, and fence repairs 
• Planting, pruning, fertilizing, seeding, watering, and general landscape care 
• Assisting with setup and teardown for recreation programs, sports facilities, and special events 
• Supporting construction and improvement of park facilities, including playground installation 

Special Requirements:

• Valid state driver’s license required 
• Ability to drive standard transmission vehicles
