Job Summary

Hyatt Place Secaucus/Meadowlands is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Night Auditor / Front Desk Host to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working overnight, enjoys working independently, and is interested in growing into a full-time position by cross-training on AM and/or PM shifts.

As a smaller, service-driven hotel, we place a strong emphasis on guest experience, accountability, and teamwork. The Night Auditor plays a critical role in both guest satisfaction and the accuracy of our daily financial operations.

Important Fit Note: This role is best suited for candidates seeking hands-on, long-term work in hotel operations rather than short-term or transitional employment.

Schedule & Growth Opportunity

  • Primary shift: Overnight (typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Status: Part-Time to start
  • Growth path: Opportunity to grow into full-time hours for candidates open to:
    • Occasional AM (7a–3p) and/or PM (3p–11p) shifts
    • Cross-training at the front desk
  • Ideal for candidates seeking stability, growth, and long-term placement

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Front Desk Operations

  • Provide friendly, professional, and confident service to guests overnight
  • Handle check-ins, check-outs, guest requests, and issue resolution
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact overnight, including emergency response
  • Maintain a calm, welcoming front desk environment at all times

Night Audit & Financial Duties

  • Complete the Night Audit and End-of-Day process accurately and on time
  • Balance daily transactions and reconcile reports
  • Prepare and distribute daily audit and flash reports
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation

Safety & Operations

  • Conduct periodic security walkthroughs (property-specific)
  • Follow all safety and emergency procedures
  • Maintain radio communication with overnight staff as applicable
  • Ensure lobby, desk, and guest-facing areas remain orderly overnight

Team & Property Support

  • Communicate effectively with the morning team during shift transitions
  • Assist with light setup or preparation tasks for the next business day 
  • Train new Night Auditors when requested
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in hospitality, customer service, or a related field
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and basic accounting/math skills
  • Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in high-pressure situations

Preferred

  • Previous hotel front desk or night audit experience
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS systems (Opera experience a plus)
  • Prior cash handling or end-of-day balancing experience
  • Interest in cross-training and long-term growth within the hotel
