FPD has an immediate opening for a long-term substitute teacher for 4th grade Math.
Term of assignment: late February 2026 through May 2026
Schedule: 7:45am - 3:30pm
Pay and benefits: $100/day, daily lunch provided
Holiday breaks include the following:
Good Friday - April 3, 2026
Spring Break - April 6-10, 2026

First Presbyterian Day School (FPD) is a 3K-12th grade Christ-centered, college preparatory independent school located in Macon, Georgia which exists to educate and equip children to change the world for God’s glory.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
- Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
- Ensures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as lunchroom duty, etc.
- Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
- Knows school procedures and regulations. Performs other related duties as directed by the Head of School.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field is preferred
- A teaching Certificate is preferred
- Classroom experience and proficiency with technological tools and platforms preferred
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The majority of work will be performed in a classroom or school campus. The person in this role is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and may be required to lift up to 20lbs.
