The Engineering Manager is Responsible for all aspects of Pleasurecraft’s engineering product development activities including the conceptualization and day-to-day management of research and development projects, delivering manufacturable designs within time and budget constraints as well as ensuring engineering team and manufacturing departments work together cohesively in order to foster innovative solutions that meets the customer’s needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a key member of Pleasurecraft's leadership team that sets the company's strategic direction.
- Develops strategic planning for the direction and control of product development activities.
- Formulates long-term objectives and standards of performance for the Engineering department.
- Ensures the department achieves objectives and project completion within time frame utilizing project management software.
- Establishes and manages project budgets and controls expenses effectively.
- Maintains knowledge of current industry trends, ensuring that the company continues to expand its technology leadership position.
- Motivates staff and provides technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource/mentor.
- Trains, develops and appraises staff effectively, taking corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with human resources as appropriate.
- Ensures that the Engineering department is focused on meeting and exceeding the customer requirements.
- Represents company on assigned industry boards.
- Ability to travel as required, approximately 10 – 20% of the time. Some travel may be international.
- Manages product certifications to ensure compliance with Federal/State/International regulations.
- Works in collaboration with Director of Operations to ensure product quality and utilization of DFMA practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND SKILLS):
· College Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Related Discipline.
· Group/Team managing experience, minimum 5 years. (Product Development or Engineering Team/Group, Technical Team management)
· Project management experience, with a minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing type field/role
· Capable of presenting ideas and delivering project progression to customers and business leaders in a way that is clearly communicated and professionally delivered, keeping the values of the company at the forefront.
· Prior success managing simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
· Proven ability to successfully lead a cohesive team that manages change and distraction to remain productive and efficient.
· Experience with relationship management of diverse personalities.
· Organizational skills for efficient project management and problem-solving practices.
· Possess a personality such that customers will perceive him/her as an expert who can lead a team to deliver solutions and resolve challenges to meet their needs.
· Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite and engineering CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE:
· Interest and experience in the marine industry.
· Working knowledge of internal combustion engines.
· Project Management Software experience.
· Understanding of Automotive Gasoline Engines and supporting systems (electrical, mechanical, powertrain).
· Exposure to Strategic Development Planning
