Description
FAAC Incorporated is seeking Engineering Interns to join our Ann Arbor, MI team. Interns work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, integrate, and test advanced vehicle simulation systems used by military, public safety, transportation, and commercial customers.
This is a hands-on role in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, providing exposure to real-world engineering challenges across software development, mechanical design, and system-level testing.
Responsibilities:
- Support engineering teams in the design, development, integration, and testing of vehicle simulation systems.
- Assist with implementation of new software features and modules in Windows and Linux environments.
- Participate in mechanical engineering tasks including CAD modeling, component design, and prototyping.
- Contribute to vehicle cab and simulator modeling and design.
- Assist with system-level and product-level testing to ensure quality and performance.
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and systems engineers to deliver high-quality simulation products.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Interest in simulation, vehicle dynamics, or gaming technologies.
- Solid foundation in mathematics or physics.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field; or a degree in Math/Physics/Engineering with relevant programming experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required (due to government contract requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with C++ programming.
- Familiarity with CAD software and mechanical design principles.
- Exposure to development tools such as JIRA, Perforce, or similar.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
- Understanding of vehicle simulation systems, dynamics modeling, or simulation/gaming development.
Physical Qualifications:
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient for engineering design and testing tasks.
- Visual acuity to perform detailed design and testing work.
