Surge Lessons Learned Collection Analyst

Job Summary
Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Surge Lessons Learned Collection Analyst to support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Staff Training Program at Quantico, VA. This surge position augments the MAGTF Analysis Section during formal Lessons Learned collections and reinforces embedded analysts during high-tempo mission cycles. The Surge Analyst will conduct formal LL collections, perform interviews and debriefs, and provide analytical synthesis. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to rapidly integrate into collection teams across diverse locations and operational contexts.
Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct formal Lessons Learned collections during major MAGTF exercises and training events
- Perform structured interviews with commanders, staff officers, and key personnel
- Facilitate debriefs and after-action reviews with units at various echelons
- Provide analytical synthesis of collected data and observations
- Augment embedded analysts during high-tempo operational cycles and peak collection periods
- Support all MAGTF elements (Command Element, Ground Combat Element, Aviation Combat Element, Logistics Combat Element)
- Compile and organize raw LL data for analysis and report production
- Assist in drafting sections of formal LL reports and products
- Coordinate with embedded analysts and MAGTF element subject matter experts
- Deploy on short notice to collection sites throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations
- Adapt quickly to different unit types, operational contexts, and collection requirements
- Support multiple formal collections throughout the year as mission requirements dictate
- Maintain proficiency across MAGTF operations and LL collection methodologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant military or analytical experience
- Graduate of Marine Corps Command & Staff College or Marine Corps Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education course preferred
- Active Secret clearance required
- Retired or former Marine Corps Officer or Senior Enlisted (E-7 and above) strongly preferred
- Broad understanding of MAGTF organization, operations, and training
- Experience conducting interviews, facilitating after-action reviews, or operational analysis
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of diverse collection teams
- Flexibility and adaptability to support surge requirements on short notice
- Willingness to travel frequently and on short notice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and military planning systems
- Physical ability to operate in field environments during collections
- Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work is performed in office environments, training facilities, and field locations
- Must be able to deploy to collection sites on short notice throughout CONUS and OCONUS
- May require extended hours during formal collections, including evenings and weekends
- Field collections may require working in austere environments and various weather conditions
- Must be physically able to access training areas and operational sites

- Frequent travel required to support formal LL collections throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations on short notice
