The Cross-Trained Barista / Cook supports daily café operations by preparing and serving food and beverages while providing warm, welcoming customer service. This role is cross trained in both barista and kitchen duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance.   • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and food items.
  • Greet customers and provide excellent hospitality.
  • Operate café and kitchen equipment safely.
  • Process POS transactions and handle cash.
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow health and safety standards.
  • Assist with opening/closing duties, events, and catering as needed.
Requirements

  • Experience in coffee shop or food service preferred.
  • Willingness to be cross trained as both barista and cook.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Respect for and appreciation of the Catholic faith and Church mission.
  • Flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress preferably in a coffee shop or quick service environment. Hands-on experience with brewing equipment. Knowledge of sanitation regulations. Basic math skills. Excellent communication skills. People person. 


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

The ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. Strong command of both written and spoken English language. 


WORKING CONDITIONS

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure. 


PHYSICAL and SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Tasks involve bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and standing for long periods of time. Ability to carry 35lb. A review of this position has excluded the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties.
