Description
Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC, IGT Division, a world-class supplier of power generation services, parts, and repairs, has an immediate opening for a qualified and experienced Grit Blaster who desires to join a growing organization and has an appetite for diverse, technically challenging work. The Grit Blaster will be responsible for preparing a variety of internal and external metal surfaces using high-powered blasting equipment to clean, smooth, and shape various gas turbine components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and maintain grit blasting machines to clean and prepare various metal surfaces.
- Select and mix appropriate abrasive materials for specific jobs/tasks.
- Review and inspect all surfaces to determine the level of cleaning in accordance with the recommended technical order or instruction.
- Follow all safety protocols to protect against inhalation of dust and/or debris.
- Perform pre- and post-safety operational checks on all grit blasting equipment.
- Document all completed work in accordance with established local procedures.
- Track utilization for all expendable materials.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations regarding waste disposal.
- Performs maintenance and cleaning of the work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Collaborates and communicates with supervisors and/or internal stakeholders to meet or exceed project deadlines.
- Safely lift, push, pull, and handle up to 40lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Performs other related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2-5 years of experience is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of the various types of abrasives and their applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Certification in the operation of grit-blasting equipment is highly desired but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of working efficiently and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime.
Salary Description
$17.50 hr. - $26.50 hr. (DOE)
