Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the production floor and team members. Works with the Plant Manager to develop the necessary tools for training, troubleshooting, problem elimination and streamlining processes within the plant. This role has responsibility to achieve productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost, quality, safety and employee engagement objectives through both individual and team contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improves manufacturing processes, schedules and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
- Works with Manager to collect appropriate data to interpret and recommend capacity levels and operating efficiency through the workforce, technology and/or equipment.
- Works with supply chain management to improve lean operations.
- Maintains plant staff by recruiting, partnering with staffing agencies, selecting, orienting, coaching, and evaluating performance.
- Develops, implements and promotes safety programs and safe work practices through involvement in the plan safety team, programs and initiatives. Creates an environment where all team members hold each other accountable for keeping their co-workers safe.
- Partners with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure compliance in GMPs, food safety & food quality, SOPs, HACCP, Allergen and safety programs.
- Assists Manager with scheduling and crewing levels.
- Implements and enforces company policies and procedures.
- Assists with maintaining proper inventory levels for planned production.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equalentant.
- BA/BS degree in Manufacturing, Logistics, Food Science, Business or related field is preferred.
Experience:
- 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a culinary or food manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to manage business critical functions in a calm and systematic fashion.
- Experience with GMPs, food safety and food quality.
- General knowledge of food nutrition.
- Organized and analytical with excellent record keeping and documentation skills are required.
- Proficiency in the MS Suite of products is required.
Physical and Environmental Working Conditions
The work environment for this role includes both office work and plant floor work. The conditions in the office will include time using the phone and the computer while sitting. The plant floor environment will expose this individual to regularly moving mechanical parts and forklifts. The environment is ventilated, air conditioned, damp, and with vibrations. Employees are required to wear the following protective equipment: hair net, rubber soled non-slip shoes, and eye wear. Hearing protection is optional.
