Description


Position Overview

Under the direction of the Model Shop Lead, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shop Fabricator/ Welder to join our R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication and operational testing of test equipment and exercise machines. You will work with a variety of tools, machinery, and welding processes to produce high-quality prototypes that meet our engineering specifications. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to precision and safety. Will be welding GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW.


Responsibilities

• Fabricate and perform operational testing of machines and equipment

• Operate tools and machinery including grinders, band saws, plasma cutters, mag drills, hand drills, levels, squares, welders, shearing machines, and sheet metal break machines

• Perform tasks from blueprints and cad drawings, such as drilling, cutting, and welding

• Retrofit used exercise equipment & make new according to engineering specifications

• Experience with Aluminum and steel

• Able to weld 20 gauge up to 1 inch steel

• Familiar with pipe and tube bending, cutting, and fitting

• Operate lift equipment when required

• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, following all safety procedures

• Perform all other duties as assigned to support shop operations


Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Welding certification preferred


Experience:

• 3–5 years of machine fabrication experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience working with sheet metal and tubing


Other Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in the United States

• Must have reliable transportation to the job site

• Pre-employment drug screen and background check are required

• Clear verbal and written communication skills in English


Skills: 

• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Ability to read and work from blueprints drawings and Solid Works 

• Knowledge of GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding setup and operation

• Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and machine shop equipment

• Strong mathematical skills for precise measurements and layout

• Ability to work as part of a team & independently

• Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

• Able to stand for extended periods and lift a minimum of 40 lbs. without assistance
