We are offering full-time, 4-to-6-month seasonal positions (March–September). Employment duration and workload are dependent on wildfire activity. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Job Duties
- Perform general shop and facility duties at the Kamloops location.
- Travel to wildfire sites to assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of Mobile Retardant Bases. (MRBs)
- Wash, repair, and repack wildfire relay tanks.
- Operate forklifts at the facility (training provided)
- Assist with equipment inventory, cleaning, and general maintenance.
- Helping in the manufacturing department with producing Phos-Chek LC95 Fire retardant, recirculating product, and loading / offloading tanker trailers.
Training & Experience
- No previous experience required; full training will be provided.
- Training may include forklift operation, first-aid, and wildfire safety certifications. (e.g., S-100, S-185)
- Previous forklift experience is an asset but not required.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation to work
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Ability to travel on short notice for up to 14 consecutive days.
- Meals and accommodation provided while deployed.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness / ability to work in all weather conditions with limited comforts while on a MRB deployment.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 04:45 p.m. (45 minutes lunch break) when not deployed.
- When deployed: potential to work up to 14 consecutive days followed by one reset day.
- Anticipated start date: March 16 (flexible)
- Overtime and standby opportunities may be available.
Physical Demands
Work is performed both indoors (shop environment) and outdoors and involves walking, bending, and standing for extended periods. The role requires the use of wash wands and brushes, often with arms extended at or above shoulder height. Manual handling of awkward packages weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. is also required.
