Description

Oversee and drive various projects, including ad campaigns, action alerts, letters, and other initiatives for PETA’s Animals in Entertainment Division. In this position, you can help dolphins and whales at SeaWorld, elephants forced to perform in circuses, and dogs suffering in the dog sledding industry. Past victories include shutting down Ringling Bros. circus and getting it to return animal-free, pushing SeaWorld to stop breeding orcas, and getting more than a dozen companies to stop sponsoring the Iditarod. You’ll get in on the action and see firsthand the immediate impact that our work has on the lives of many animals.


Position Objective:

To oversee and drive various projects for PETA’s Animals in Entertainment Division


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Push animals in entertainment issues in the media and the public consciousness through creative work, outreach, and project coordination 

• Conduct research and analysis on campaign targets

• Develop and coordinate a wide variety of projects for PETA’s campaigns

• Draft letters and other documents to support PETA’s campaigns

• Analyze the success of campaign efforts and adjust strategy accordingly

• Participate in brainstorming and assist with strategizing 

• Support campaigns by handling administrative responsibilities of the division, including scheduling meetings, liaising between departments, and taking notes

• Build subject matter expertise in animals in entertainment issues

• Represent PETA to television outlets, radio stations, newspapers, and magazines

• Keep informed about local, national, and international news stories and track stories relevant to campaigns

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor 

Requirements

 • College degree or equivalent experience 

• Proven excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Previous project- or campaign-management experience

• Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns

• Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively

• Proven ability to take initiative and follow through

• Demonstrated excellent research and analytical skills

• Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a professional and personable manner

• Comfort in a fast-paced work environment

• Demonstrated ability to multitask, work with minimal direct oversight, and meet deadlines 

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization



  

The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.30 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
