About VeroTouch

VeroTouch exists to change how homes are built.

We are a venture-backed construction technology company reimagining residential construction by combining advanced manufacturing, robotics, and traditional building expertise. At a time when housing affordability, labor shortages, and inefficiency continue to plague our industry, VeroTouch is focused on building better, faster, and smarter.

Our work sits at the intersection of construction and technology. We design and operate systems that integrate 3D printing, advanced materials, and lean production principles into real-world job sites. This is not a theoretical exercise. We are actively building homes, learning in real time, and turning those experiences into repeatable and scalable operating models.

VeroTouch is early-stage, hands-on, and execution-driven. The people who thrive here are builders in every sense of the word. They take ownership, stay calm under pressure, and care deeply about outcomes. If you are excited by challenges, energized by responsibility, and motivated by the opportunity to help define the future of an industry that rarely changes, you will feel at home here.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Design and Automation Engineer is a senior individual contributor role responsible for designing, developing, and deploying mechanical and automated systems that advance VeroTouch’s construction technologies. This role requires strong technical depth, comfort operating across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, and software), and the ability to manage projects independently from concept through on-site implementation.

This position is ideal for an engineer who values ownership over pedigree, enjoys solving complex real-world problems, and takes pride in seeing designs move from early concepts into production environments. Prior construction experience is not required; however, candidates must be comfortable working in active job-site conditions and supporting deployed systems in the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Mechanical Design & Development

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for automation equipment, robotics, and construction technologies, including 3D printing systems.
  • Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications to support prototyping, testing, iteration, and production.
  • Lead mechanical design efforts from early concept development through final production release.

Automation, Mechatronics & Integration

  • Integrate mechanical designs with electronic systems, sensors, actuators, and control components.
  • Support development and implementation of automation solutions, including mechatronic systems and basic control logic.
  • Perform light coding or scripting (e.g., Python, C++, or similar) to support system integration, testing, diagnostics, and data collection.

Project Ownership & Execution

  • Manage assigned projects autonomously, including defining scope, timelines, and technical approach.
  • Drive projects end-to-end, from concept through on-site deployment and operational handoff.
  • Troubleshoot deployed systems, iterate designs based on real-world feedback, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including construction operations, manufacturing, and leadership.
Requirements

 Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related technical field (required)
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, craftsmanship, and delivering results beyond formal education.

Experience

  • 5–10 years of professional experience in mechanical design, automation, robotics, or related product development roles (required)
  • Demonstrated experience taking systems or products from concept through production and deployment (required)
  • Proven ability to manage work independently and deliver results without close supervision (required)
  • Experience with mechatronics, sensor integration, and electromechanical systems (preferred)
  • Experience supporting deployed hardware in real-world or industrial environments (preferred).

Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Owner’s mindset with a bias toward action, accountability, and follow-through.
