Cleary Zimmermann Engineers' IT/Security division provides consulting, design, and project management services to make buildings smart, safe, and connected. The IT/Security Designer is responsible for designing low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, data/voice networks, A/V, physical security, and more. This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their needs, developing innovative designs, and ensuring the successful execution of projects through construction administration.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- IT/Security Systems design, Structured Cabling, and Physical Security Systems, including but not limited to data networking, wireless networks, ASP demarcation, audio visual, access control, motion detection, and surveillance systems.
- Analyze scope and fees and promptly write proposals for project opportunities in close coordination with senior management while endeavoring under-promise and overĀ deliver.
- Embrace and exemplify CZ's core values of Service, Communication, and Humility in all aspects of personal behavior, leadership, and management.
- Collaborate with other CZ teams and management for needed resources.
- Ensure that Company standards are being followed, and all projects have appropriate QA/QC reviews completed.
- Proactively track and manage potential project "errors and omissions" issues.
- Report on time and engage in all task responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Working Conditions
The following working conditions are requirements for the position:
- This position requires night and weekend work at times to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
- Project site visits are required at times to ensure coordination and collaboration on design intent and to verify that installations are performed properly.
- Reliable transportation is required for office work according to scheduled work times, site visits, meetings, etc.
Physical Requirements
The ability to carry up to 30 lbs of drawings and carry and climb ladders.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are requirements of the position:
- Proven experience designing Structured Cabling and Physical Security Systems, including but not limited to data networking, wireless networks, ISP demarcation, audio visual, access control, motion detection, and surveillance systems.
- Proven experience with MDF/IDF rack systems design.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu (latest edition).
- Ability to create and review project manual specifications.
- Proven experience with the review of submittal packages, RFI's proposal requests, change orders, etc.
- Able to work well and communicate with other internal disciplines and external project consultants.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Project Management experience is a plus.
- Excellent leadership skills.
Continuing Education
Beyond any specific outside education classes taken to maintain professional registration, 8 hours of leadership or management classes shall be required. Although attending vendor classes is encouraged to keep up with technology, this will not count toward the 8 hours of continuing education.
