Senior Accountant

Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the timely posting of revenue and payroll, cash reconciliation, and sales taxes.  The Senior Accountant works closely with the CDL School leadership.


Duties and Responsibilities: 


Operational Accounting 

  • Support month- end close process 
  • Prepare and review journal entries 
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, fixed assets, accruals) 
  • Variance analysis 
  • Ensure data integrity in various systems 
  • Commissions calculation and validation 
  • Review and validation of invoices and expense reports 
  • Prepare sales tax, property tax, and other tax filings 
  • Support annual audit 

Operational Business 

  • Data Analytics as required 
  • State, VA licensing and compliance 
  • Liaison with business operational leadership and accounting to ensure that business needs are met 
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Finance Department 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and internal controls 
Requirements

Education and Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting  
  • Masters degree and/or CPA certification a plus 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of Senior Accountant experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Experience working with Great Plains and Adaptive
  • Strong leadership skills
