Description
The Automotive General Manager oversees all operations within a dealership, ensuring profitability, efficient operations, and exceptional customer satisfaction. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage sales, service, parts, finance, and administrative departments, while driving growth, achieving revenue targets, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage department managers, fostering a high-performing team culture.
- Set performance benchmarks and conduct regular reviews for employees across all departments.
- Encourage collaboration between sales, service, finance, and parts teams to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
2. Operations Oversight:
- Monitor and manage day-to-day dealership activities, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Oversee inventory management, including new and used vehicles, parts, and service supplies.
- Develop and implement effective processes and procedures for all departments.
3. Financial Performance:
- Analyze dealership financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure profitability.
- Develop and manage budgets, including expense control and forecasting.
- Drive revenue growth in all dealership departments, ensuring alignment with sales targets and market trends.
4. Customer Experience:
- Promote a customer-first culture, ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
- Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns effectively and promptly.
- Implement customer retention strategies, including loyalty programs and post-sale follow-ups.
5. Sales Strategy:
- Establish and execute sales strategies to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Develop pricing strategies and promotional campaigns in collaboration with sales and marketing teams.
- Evaluate market trends and competitor performance to identify opportunities and threats.
6. Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain adherence to manufacturer guidelines and maintain a strong relationship with the brand.
- Monitor internal audits and implement corrective measures when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- MINIMUM 5 YEARS OF AUTOMOBILE DEALERSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Proven experience in automotive dealership management, preferably as a GM, Sales Manager, or similar role.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of dealership operations, including sales, finance, service, and parts.
- Analytical and financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and CRM platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or related field (preferred).

- Achieving and exceeding monthly sales, service, and financial goals.
- Customer satisfaction scores (CSI).
- Employee satisfaction and retention rates.
- Inventory turnover and management efficiency.

Salary Description
$150,000 to $300,000 per year
