Internship Overview

General Carbide is seeking motivated College Aged Engineering Summer Interns to join our manufacturing team as part of the General Carbide Innovation Internship Competition. This is a paid, hands-on summer internship designed for college students interested in gaining real-world experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Interns will work on meaningful projects that support production, process improvement, and innovation while collaborating with experienced engineers and manufacturing professionals.


Areas of Exposure May Include

  • Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical)
  • Automation and Process Improvement
  • CAD/CAM
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Machine Operations and Efficiency Optimization
  • Data collection and analysis to support engineering projects

Internship Details

  • Paid summer internship running from mid-May through early August (approximately 12 weeks)
  • Compete against other internship teams for a monetary award, based on project progress and demonstrated impact on daily operational efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • College-aged students (18–25)
  • Currently pursuing or interested in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interest in working hands-on within the manufacturing environments
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, chemical, electrical, and/or software engineering is a plus but not required
  • Automation experience or interest is a plus but not required
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
