Title: Quality Assurance Engineer 

Section: TOKCCAZ

Status: Exempt 

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm

SUMMARY: 

Function: Safely and efficiently design, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products while strictly adhering to established standard operating procedures and company policies.

Scope:  Use experience and judgment to plan, execute and accomplish goals related to product quality in conjunction with performing a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing processes.

DUTIES: 

Typical 

1. Adherence to corporate, State and Federal regulations and guidelines when handling hazardous materials or when exposed to hazardous situations. Must adhere to departmental and corporate standard operating procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

2. Prepares internal and external documents.

3. Interface to customer for quality related items and customer audits.

4. Investigation of quality problems and thereafter, implementation and verification of corrective action with focus on the prevention of reoccurrence through follow-up.

5. Investigation of, and response to, quality problems that occur from a customer complaint.

6. Working with other TOK America personnel to work towards process improvements.

7. Support Failure Mode and Effect Analysis as needed.

8. Support production improvements by utilizing SPC techniques and tools such as JMP.

9. Improve the manufacturing processes to reduce manufacturing costs, improve quality and promote safety.

10. Pursue activities for continuous improvement related to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

11. Periodical product quality check through internal process audit and external supplier audit.

12. Align and understand the global quality policy to ensure consistency in TOK. 

13. Actively demonstrate high levels of employee engagement, coachability (e.g., receiving and incorporating business-related feedback and instruction with a positive and growth-oriented mindset) to achieve desired outcomes, and accountability for personal performance and its impact on others' ability to do their job well.

14. Additional tasks related to smooth production and facility operation. 

Periodical

Attending annual and/or quarterly refresher courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management. 

SUPERVISION: 

Receives:

Direct supervision is provided by the department supervisory team (Vice President). Completed work is reviewed for accuracy, completeness and compliance with the established guidelines.

Requirements

  

EDUCATION: 

BS degree in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or relevant education required.

EXPERIENCE: 

A minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality assurance position. Prior semiconductor industry experience is preferred. Knowledge and experience in ISO 9000 or similar quality management system is preferred.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS: 

1. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. 

2. Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Statistical Process Control for manufacturing process improvement and JMP application for data analysis.

3. Knowledge of measurement precision / capability analysis techniques such as gauge R&R.

4. Maintain ISO document and record control.

5. Ability to communicate fluently in English and Mandarin (both oral and written).

6. Have stable, verifiable work history with excellent attendance record.

7. Must be comfortable working with chemicals including, but not limited to, corrosives and organic solvents.

  


WORKING CONDITIONS: 

1. Correspond, communicate, exchange information, and appropriately respond to communications and work-related forms, documents and other information from employees and customers using available technology in other situations in which business information may be shared, discussed, or exchanged.

2. Use and operate a personal computer, office equipment and other technology devices frequently and consistently throughout each day with a high degree of skill, accuracy, and independent judgment for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data, and other business-related information.

3. Work for extended periods of time in a stationary position (possibly up to 60 minutes or more without an opportunity to substantially change position) while consistently grasping, moving, and manipulating documents, office supplies, computer equipment, and other business tools and materials.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

There is a potential for exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. This position requires employees to remain alert and observe surrounding areas and conditions to identify, recognize, and respond to potential obstacles, safety concerns, hazards, threats, property conditions requiring attention, and emergencies. The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. This position primarily works in a temperature-controlled, sometimes high-pressure office environment. Our office spaces include traditional office lighting (including fluorescent lighting), traditional office furniture, shared office space and restrooms, and facilities that include consistent and frequent noise (often louder than ambient noise), conversations among employees and customers, interruptions, and other similar distractions. Performing work in a typical office environment may also include exposure to ordinary and typical odors, scents, perfumes, and other airborne odors associated with people congregating, working, and sharing space together. We cannot guarantee a 100% scent-free work environment.

OTHER: 

Personnel must successfully complete a program of on-site classroom instruction or on-the-job training that teaches them to perform their duties in a way that ensures compliance with all job requirements. Prior experience and/or certification that can be verified will be considered in evaluating training requirements.

Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. 

Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from the work site.
