About the Opportunity
The Gund Company is offering a hands-on CNC Machining Internship designed for students enrolled in manufacturing, machining, or technical programs. This internship provides real-world experience working alongside skilled machinists while learning how to safely set up, run, and inspect CNC-produced parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Learn
- Basics of operating CNC mills and lathes
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Machine setup, tool changes, and offsets (under supervision)
- Quality inspection using calipers, micrometers, & gauges
- Material handling and workflow processes
- Safety procedures and shop best practices
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Assist machinists with daily production activities
- Operate CNC equipment after training (entry-level tasks)
- Perform basic measurements to ensure quality
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Support machine operators and production leaders as needed
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a machining, manufacturing, or technical program
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in CNC machining
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
