Staff Accountant I

One Full-Time Position. 40 hours per week.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Hiring Range: $22.85 - $24.91 / hr., depending upon education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.


Minimum Requirements

Required 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.

• Minimum one year of accounting-related experience.

• Intermediate skills in Excel Software.

Preferred

• 1-year experience with full-cycle accounting.

• 1-year experience in data presentation.

• Advanced skills in Excel Software.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Accounting Systems Supervisor, this position is responsible for supporting the CFO and Finance/Accounting department. This role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy in working with multi-source financial data, and the ability to support month-end and year-end close.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures for all accounting functions.

2. Promote and maintain confidentiality of financial and other data at all times.

3. Promotes trusted and healthy relationships between the Accounting department and program staff.

4. Ensure files are complete and maintained in alphabetical and chronological order.

5. Supports multiple program-specific AR and AP processes.

6. Assists programs in analyzing revenue and expenses.

7. Support monthly financial close by preparing schedules, journal entries, and account analyses. 

8. Maintain financial reports, records and general ledgers.

9. Conduct routine and ad hoc reconciliations to identify, investigate and resolve variances. 

10. Prepare correspondence, mailings and priority shipments.

11. Must work closely with other Ariel Programs and offices.

12. Protect organization’s value by keeping confidential information.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. The ability to read, speak and write in English.

2. The ability to communicate verbally and in written format in both individual and group settings.

3. Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly.

4. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion.

5. Intermediate computer knowledge including: Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

6. Knowledge of the type of services Ariel Clinical Services provides. 

7. Exercise independent judgment within the scope and boundaries of the department, the Agency’s Standard Operating Procedures, and Federal, State and Local Rules and Regulations regarding department operations.

8. Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served.

9. Working knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software.


Education and Experience

Physical Demands

1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of walking, bending, standing, sitting, stooping, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to 5 hours without a break. 

2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.

3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.

4. This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell and distinguish temperatures, at a level which is adequate to ensure client and staff health and safety. Corrective devices are acceptable.

5. This position may require daily driving of up to 1 hour per day. 

6. Climbing may be required from time to time.
