The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.


Position Summary: 

The Analytics Engineer is responsible for working across the DCCC to ingest and structure data from various vendors and public sources into high-quality datasets to facilitate departmental reporting, targeting and fundraising needs. They will join a team of engineers working closely with other DCCC departments to build products, reporting, and workflow automations for fundraising and direct voter contact. The ideal candidate will have experience with both political data and data engineering.


This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.


Responsibilities:

  • Centralize data from various DCCC vendors and public sources, building and maintaining ELT workflows to deliver data into our Google BigQuery data warehouse, including (but not limited to) fundraising, voter file data, scores and models, polling data, geographic and census data, and media data
  • Collaborate with other DCCC departments to design and maintain data products, reports, and automated workflows in alignment with the strategic needs of their programs
  • Become a subject-matter expert on the national voter file, working with the DNC and other vendors to follow updates to source data and maintain voter file ingestion pipelines
  • Structure and document key datasets for analytics and reporting needs
  • Automate common workflows to facilitate the core work of end-users
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the Data Operations team and that of stakeholders across the Committee
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of data engineering or analytics experience in politics or technology required
  • Strong SQL and analytics database experience required — preference for BigQuery
  • Experience with dbt or other workflow orchestration tools preferred 
  • Experience with Tableau or other business intelligence and data visualization tools preferred 
  • Experience using R or Python for data processing or visualization preferred 
  • Familiarity with database architecture and modern data workflows, particularly as they relate to campaign data preferred 
  • Familiarity with voter file tools (such as VAN, PDI, Catalist), Census data, and the DNC ecosystem (Phoenix and Portal) preferred
