 Position Summary: 


The Bartender reports to and is under the direction of the Market Manager. This position is responsible for the efficient set-up, preparation, and service of beverages in a fast-paced, quick service poolside environment. The Bartender ensures members and guests receive prompt, accurate service at the walk-up bar while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace. 


In addition to serving walk-up members, the Bartender is responsible for preparing and executing beverage orders submitted by cocktail servers in a timely and accurate manner. The individual in this role must follow all applicable laws and Club policies regarding alcoholic beverage service and provide each member and guest with a warm Columbia welcome and professional hospitality. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs a manager if continuing service to a member or guest is in question. 

• Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures including pouring the correct amount of alcohol in the correct glass.  

• Prepares garnishes, mixes, and pre-mixed drinks. 

• Keep records of liquor, beers, and wine to ensure bar stock is appropriate. 

• Mixes, prepares, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and their guests in a high-volume, quick-service setting. 

• Prepares beverage tickets submitted by cocktail servers accurately and efficiently to support poolside table service. 

• Maintains speed and accuracy during peak pool hours while upholding quality and presentation standards. 

• Follows set-up procedures including inspecting the bar area prior to service to ensure adequate supplies, garnishes, ice, and equipment are prepared. 

• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe bar area throughout the shift, including counters, storage areas, and equipment. 

• Request additional supplies from a supervisor or manager and stocks the bar daily to meet anticipated volume. 

• Monitors and records liquor, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage inventory to maintain appropriate par levels. • Attends any pre-shift meetings called by supervisors or management. 

• Verifies that all members and guests purchasing or consuming alcoholic beverages are at least 21 years of age by carefully checking valid government-issued photo identification in accordance with state law and Club policy.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Furthermore, they should possess the following personal and professional characteristics: 


• Must be 18 years of age • General knowledge of alcoholic beverages to be served 

• TIPS certified • Able to multi-task and comprehend multiple orders at any given time 

• Must have good communication skills including understanding and speaking English 

• Held responsible for working all major club events to include Memorial Day, Fireworks (June 30th), 4th of July, CCC (July 10th), Labor Day and all other blackout dates noted in orientation 

• Able to meet the physical demands and responsibilities of the position. They will, while  regularly performing the essential functions of the job, be standing, sitting and lifting /  moving items or objects over 25 pounds and sometimes lift / move items up to 50 pounds.
