As a College & Next Steps Guidance Counselor, you are the primary architect of our student’s transitions from high school to their future callings. You are a mentor helping students and families navigate the complex world of higher education, vocational training, and career discernment through a lens of academic excellence and spiritual growth.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Meet one-on-one with students (starting in 9th/10th grade) to develop personalized “Next Step” roadmaps integrated with the students EBA experience. 
  • Assist students in identifying their strengths, interests, and spiritual gifts through interviews, various assessment tools and research.
  • Provide academic advising to ensure students meet both graduation requirements and competitive college admissions standards and career readiness.
  • Coordinate and communicate with faculty, administration, and families in support of student roadmaps.
  • Support students and families in managing the end-to-end college application process, including transcript requests, school profiles, and letters of recommendation.
  • Education families on FAFSA, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities to make post-secondary education accessible. 
  • Organize on-campus visits with college and career recruiters and scholarship organizations; coordinate local college fair attendance.
  • Provide robust information resources for students pursuing trade schools, missionary/pastoral service, apprenticeships, gap years, or military services.
  • Maintain a network of local business leaders and alumni to facilitate career pathways, job shadowing, or work-learning internship opportunities. 
  • Act as the primary coordinator for standardized testing, including the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
  • Analyze school-wide testing data to help faculty identify areas for curriculum adjustment and communicate results with families.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Proficiency with school management software and Google Suite.
  • Exceptional public speaking and writing skills for student/parent seminars and recommendation letters.
  • Deep commitment to the mission and values of Eastbrook Academy with the ability to integrate faith into the counseling process.
  • A “calm in the storm” personality capable of handling high-stakes deadlines while offering a supportive, listening ear.
  • High attention to detail for transcript review combined with the ability to help students envision their future. 

Spiritual Requirements: 

  • Unreserved acceptance of Eastbrook Academy’s Statement of Faith and a strong, clear Christian testimony.
  • Active membership in good standing within a Christian church community.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in college admissions or high school guidance.
  • Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Education, or a related field.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, via e mail, and over the phone with a diverse population of parents and staff.
