Job Summary 

The Summer Marketing and Group Sales Intern supports Lagoon’s Marketing and Group Sales team by assisting with guest communication, group ticket processing, promotional support, and administrative tasks. This position provides hands-on experience in marketing, sales operations, and guest services within an amusement park environment. The Intern will perform all duties in accordance with Lagoon’s policies and procedures while supporting safe operations and delivering excellent guest service.  


Essential Functions of the Job 

  • Assist with answering telephones and responding to guest and group inquiries in a friendly, professional manner. 
  • Support Group Sales Representatives with processing group reservations, ticket orders, meal vouchers, and promotional materials. 
  • Verify and prepare group tickets, meal passes, invoices, and promotional information for distribution. 
  • Provide clear and accurate information about Lagoon’s departments including Group Sales, Admissions, Ticketing, Catering, and Picnics. 
  • Support marketing projects such as promotional campaigns, survey mailings, database updates, and basic reporting. 
  • Operate office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, ticket printers, and multi-line phone systems. 
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Accounting, Admissions, Catering, Group Events and other departments to ensure a smooth group experience. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests, group leaders, vendors, and team members. 
  • Remain calm and professional when assisting with complaints or concerns and seek management support when needed. 
Requirements

 

Required Qualifications/Abilities 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be available beginning March 15th through August 15th.  Ability to work a flexible schedule including, weekdays, weekends and holidays. 
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with guests and team members. 
  • Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and word processing programs. 
  • Ability to learn Lagoon’s pricing, policies, and procedures quickly. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to verify ticket and invoice accuracy. 
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and reconciling payments. 
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious. 
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with Lagoon’s grooming standards. 

Working Conditions 

  • This position requires working in an environment that includes exposure to high noise levels, bright/flashing light or darkened areas, fog or haze, large crowds, and other factors typical to an amusement park setting. 
  • The Intern will work in both office and park environments and must be able to remain focused while managing frequent interruptions from guests and team members. 
  • This position will perform essential job duties outdoors and be exposed to environmental elements including, but not limited to, extreme heat or cold, wind, dust, noise, rain, snow, and direct sunlight. 

Physical Requirements 

The physical demands described below must be met to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities: 

Able to regularly use hands and fingers. 

  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, arms, and legs to reach, operate equipment, climb stairs, evacuate guests from lifts, perform routine safety checks, and use hands to handle or feel. 
  • Able to sit, stand, walk (at a specified pace), crouch, crawl, kneel, reach above the head or stoop for the duration of a shift up to eight (8) hours. 
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and up to one hundred (100) pounds assisted. 
  • Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting. 
  • Able to walk quickly to and from job locations up to one (1) mile distance. 
  • Must have sufficient hearing and visual acuity to observe equipment, Lagoon guests, etc. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
