I. General Job Description
The Lease Service Manager is responsible for the operational performance, financial control, and regulatory compliance of the assigned Leasing Service Department. This role ensures fleet uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, cost control, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction in alignment with Dobbs Truck Leasing standards.
The Lease Service Manager leads technicians and support staff while driving efficiency, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. The role requires disciplined execution of maintenance strategy, asset protection, and cost-per-mile management to ensure maximum fleet profitability and customer retention.

II. Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance & Operational Leadership
- Lead all preventive maintenance and repair activities for the assigned fleet
- Ensure PM compliance meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards
- Assign work strategically to optimize technician productivity and repair cycle time
- Monitor daily workflow, WIP levels, and repair turnaround time
- Apply corrective actions to reduce downtime and eliminate bottlenecks
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure repair integrity and safety
Financial & Asset Performance Management
- Manage fleet cost per mile and overall repair expense to maximize lease profitability
- Analyze maintenance trends, component failures, and recurring cost driver.
- Track and maintain accurate system records and performance metrics
- Review and control vendor spend and ensure purchase order discipline
- Recommend investments in tooling, equipment, or staffing based on ROI analysis
Team Leadership & Accountability
- Hire, develop, coach, and evaluate technicians and support staff
- Address performance issues promptly and consistently
- Conduct weekly shop meetings focused on workflow, safety, and performance expectations
- Ensure technician certifications and required training remain current
- Build a culture of ownership, safety, and execution
Customer Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintain strong communication with customers regarding repair status and uptime expectations
- Partner with Sales, Parts, and Administrative teams to ensure seamless customer support
- Work closely with Parts leadership to reduce delays related to stocking or ordering
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally to protect retention
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain all maintenance files to meet federal and state regulatory requirements
- Ensure shop equipment and tooling are properly maintained, controlled, and secured
- Monitor safety and environmental compliance and proactively escalate risks
- Enforce adherence to company policies for business conduct and operational standards
III. Minimum Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Diesel Technology, Transportation, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years heavy-duty truck maintenance experience
- Minimum 3 years progressive leadership experience in a fleet, leasing, or dealership service environment
- Demonstrated experience managing maintenance KPIs such as PM compliance, downtime, WIP, cost per mile, and technician productivity
- Working knowledge of fleet maintenance systems and service management software
- Strong financial awareness including repair cost control and vendor management
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong leadership, organizational, and customer communication skills
