Description
Summary: The Production Generalist is responsible for operating and maintaining the blast booth and equipment, performing material handling functions, and supporting general production and assembly operations as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Blast Operations
- Operate blast room and equipment to achieve specified surface finish (remove rust, scale, etc.)
- Maintain and perform general up keep of blast booth and blasting equipment
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge of blast equipment and various blast media
- Complete final inspections to ensure product quality
Material Handling & Inventory
- Operate forklift, pallet jack, crane, and hoist to move materials and finished product
- Perform daily inspection and preventative maintenance of fork truck
- Handle and move materials, components, and products throughout departments
- Locate and deliver materials, parts, and components listed on production orders
- Consolidate and kit component parts as directed
- Identify, label, and record inventory locations to maintain organization
- Verify inventory accuracy and make necessary adjustments
- Unload and receive raw materials as needed
- Coordinate material needs per production schedule
Assembly & General Production
- Use hand, electric, and pneumatic tools to assemble parts and components per written and verbal instructions, diagrams, and blueprints
- Understand prints, process sheets, and related documentation
- Assist with packing, crating, labeling, palletizing, stretch wrapping, and metal banding
- Recognize and identify products and fabricated sheet metal components
- Maintain compliance with Business Management System (BMS) requirements
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- General manufacturing experience required
- Knowledge of fabricated sheet metal products, raw materials, and supplies preferred
- Advanced knowledge of fork truck operation and safety
- Intermediate knowledge of blasting equipment and media
- Basic to intermediate math, computer, and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, blueprints, and process documentation
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manual, electric, and pneumatic tools
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices (e.g., tape measure)
- Ability to recognize and identify products and materials
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and crouching
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Frequent use of hand and pneumatic tools
- Specific vision abilities required (distance, color, and depth perception)
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with fork truck traffic
- Exposure to blast media, dust, oils, and solvents
- Sharp edges on materials and packaging
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
