Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position supports the Enterprise Systems Team in office at the GMRE HQ (South Ogden, UT). The Systems Administrator must have a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. This position will manage the designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting of GMRE’s infrastructure systems. This position will be required to work in the office Monday - Friday.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support and administration for enterprise network services (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN).
  • Support network segmentation using 802.1Q VLANs, routing, and switching technologies.
  • Configure and manage firewalls and secure remote access solutions such as IPSec VPN (site-to-site and client-based).
  • Maintain reliable network connectivity across headquarters and remote locations.
  • Monitor network performance, security events, and system capacity.
  • Manage change and configuration control across network nodes and infrastructure systems.
  • Administer hypervisors, Windows Servers (2019/2022), Linux servers (RHEL/Debian), and network communications equipment.
  • Administer Active Directory Services (AD, DNS, Certificate Authority, GPO, NPS) and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Manage Microsoft 365 (GCC High) tenant.
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Support distributed file systems (Windows DFS, Ceph, CephFS).
  • Maintain Linux application servers (Apache, Tomcat, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Provide advanced end-user support for Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and enterprise applications.
  • Respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues, and document activities within ticketing systems.
  • Support audit and compliance activities aligned with ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to department personnel.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise network administration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in routing, switching, VLAN segmentation, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience configuring and managing firewalls and secure remote access solutions.
  • Proficiency with Windows Server (2019/2022) and Active Directory services.
  • Proficiency with Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation and change management discipline.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity standards and secure configuration practices.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of server, network, and endpoint hardware.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Minimum two (2) years managing Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
  • Minimum two (2) years managing site-to-site VPNs.
  • Minimum two (2) years managing VLAN network segmentation.
  • Experience working within compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-171).
  • Experience with ticketing and change management systems.
  • Certifications of interest: Network+, Security+, RHCSA, CCNA, ITIL.
  • Preferred experience managing hypervisors and virtualized environments.
  • Preferred scripting experience using PowerShell and Bash.
  • Preferred experience managing SAN or distributed storage systems.
  • Preferred experience administering Fortinet Firewalls.
  • Preferred experience managing Linux servers in headless environments.
  • Preferred experience administering Atlassian Confluence and Jira.
  • Preferred experience supporting SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM environments.

SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance if required.
  • To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. 
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service network communications equipment.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visits, site maintenance, other activities.
