OPPORTUNITY
The Social Media Manager is the strategic lead for 10,000 Degrees’ digital voice. This role owns the day-to-day execution and long-term growth of our presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of creative storytelling and data-driven strategy. You will ensure unified messaging across diverse audiences, including students/alumni, donors, and educational partners, while serving as an internal consultant to help our Program and Development teams translate their impact into compelling digital content.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Channel Management
- Implement and evolve a comprehensive multi-channel strategy that aligns with 10,000 Degrees’ annual goals for student engagement and fundraising.
- Lead all posting, scheduling, and community management, ensuring a consistent, high-quality brand voice across all platforms.
- Act as a strategic partner to the Program, Development, and other teams to identify “hook-worthy” stories and upcoming priorities that require digital promotion.
- Oversee all platform engagement; proactively manage comments and messages to build a vibrant, responsive online community.
- Support in the completion of social media marketing requests.
LinkedIn & Growth Marketing
- Execute a sophisticated LinkedIn strategy designed to position 10,000 Degrees as a thought leader in educational equity.
- Manage the LinkedIn Ad Grant from end to end, including audience segmentation, A/B testing ad copy, conversion tracking, and budget optimization to maximize ROI.
- Support leadership in developing their professional presence on LinkedIn to amplify organizational reach.
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Produce high-performing visual assets (Canva graphics, carousels, and short-form videos/reels) that meet professional design standards.
- Draft high-conversion copy tailored to the unique psychology of each audience (e.g., empowering for students, professional for partners, impactful for donors).
- Highlight student voices and impactful organizational stories in a culturally responsive and ethical way.
- Attend key events and program sites to interview participants, create testimonials and event summaries, live blog events, and capture high-quality raw photo/video content for social media campaigns.
- Lead training for the Program team on content capture best practices, ensuring all field-generated content adheres to ethical storytelling and image consent protocols.
Analytics, Insights & Accessibility
- Define and track KPIs; deliver monthly “actionable insight” reports that include key metrics and recommended pivots in strategy grounded in data.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and social media trends to ensure the organization remains relevant and utilizes new platform features.
- Ensure all content meets high standards for digital accessibility (alt-text, captions, etc.) and reflects the organization’s commitment to equitable access.

REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of professional social media management experience with a proven track record of growing audiences and driving engagement
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously oversee multiple social media accounts targeting diverse audiences
- Experience with social media management tools (Linktree, Hootsuite, Linkinbio, Bit.ly, Meta, etc.)
- Advanced skills in Canva and video editing (iMovie, Adobe Premiere, etc.)
- Direct experience managing paid social media campaigns, including on LinkedIn
- Keen ability to see the “big picture” of our mission and translate it into impactful daily content
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills, including a strong ability to simplify complex topics into digestible posts
- Enthusiasm, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to to learn and be self-reflective
- Photography or videography experience a plus
- Nonprofit experience and/or college access/success a plus
- This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.
