The Role You’ll Play

The APRN provides high-quality, integrated medical and behavioral healthcare to patients across the lifespan. This role includes conducting assessments, managing treatment plans, collaborating with behavioral health providers, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting coordinated patient care. The APRN plays a key part in delivering compassionate, patient-centered services within an interdisciplinary team.


Clinical Care & Direct Patient Services

  • Complete physical and psychiatric assessments across the lifespan.
  • Diagnose and manage physical and mental health conditions, including chronic diseases.
  • Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring, and patient education.
  • Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Deliver preventive care, including vaccines, screenings, and health education.
  • Facilitate referrals for specialized or inpatient behavioral health services.
  • Offer counseling and education on diagnoses, treatment options, and wellness strategies.

Behavioral Health Integration

  • Work collaboratively with behavioral health clinicians and psychiatrists.
  • Conduct screenings for depression, anxiety, substance use, and other mental health needs.
  • Support integrated, patient-centered treatment planning.
  • Consult with supervising psychiatrists and offer clinical support to agency staff.

Collaboration & Care Coordination

  • Coordinate services within an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in team meetings to review progress and adjust care plans.
  • Work with external hospitals, specialists, and community agencies for smooth care transitions.
  • Advocate for patient needs and promote equitable access to services.

Quality, Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EHR.
  • Meet productivity and administrative requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts, audits, and peer reviews.
  • Follow ethical standards, regulatory guidelines, and agency policies.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and organizational activities.
  • Collaborate with nursing and administrative teams for efficient operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current clinical practices and serve as a resource to staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Who You Are

The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional who is ready to take on a challenge and is passionate about mental health.  Preferred candidates will be dually licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  However, we will also consider candidates who are board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  You are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Requirements

 

Required:

1. All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening.

2. Must be licensed in good standing to practice as an APRN in Kansas. 

3. Graduation from a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.

4.  American Nurses Credentialing Center certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is required.

5. Graduation from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program.

6. Must have 3 years of clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

7. Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.

8. Basic personal computer skills required. 

9. Results of criminal and all other applicable background checks must meet the approval of Pawnee Mental Health Services.

10. Must have current DEA.

11. Must have current BLS.


Preferred:

1. Experience in a community mental health setting with clients of all ages is strongly preferred.

2. Experience with Microsoft Office software preferred.

Salary Description
$130,000-$145,000
