Our services operate 7-days per week to deliver on our promise that “access matters”. The AOC contributions to medical education and research are extensive, with numerous ongoing studies and over 150 medical students hosted in the past decade. Many of our physicians serve as Teaching Faculty at the University of Georgia School of Medicine, and the Medical College of Georgia where they play a pivotal role in training and preparing the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Role Summary
The Physician Relations and Community Engagement is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with community physicians, practice managers, and other referral sources. Your primary objective is to increase patient referrals to the practice's specialists and service lines by identifying market opportunities, resolving service barriers, and educating the medical community on our clinical excellence. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities
• Referral Growth & Sales: Execute face-to-face outreach visits (cold calls and scheduled meetings) to primary care and specialty offices to promote our physicians and services.
• Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for referring offices; foster long-term loyalty by ensuring they have the necessary materials (referral forms, maps, bio cards) and contact info. Effectively communicate the unique value of Athens Orthopedic Clinic services.
• Issue Resolution: Identify and "fix" referral leaks. If a referring office is unhappy with a process, report this to internal leadership and facilitate a solution to regain their trust.
• Market Intelligence: Track and analyze referral patterns using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Marketware). Monitor competitor activities and new practice openings in the region.
• Educational Outreach: Coordinate "Lunch and Learns," webinars, or CME events where our specialists can present new treatments or technologies to potential referring partners.
• Brand Advocacy: Ensure the practice is viewed as a "community-centered, patient-first" provider through consistent messaging and professional representation.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration.
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in healthcare sales (pharmaceutical, medical device, or provider relations).
• Skills: * Strong clinical acumen (ability to discuss complex medical procedures/specialties).
o Proficiency in CRM tools and data analysis.
o Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Travel: Ability to travel locally up to 70–80% of the time to visit provider offices
