AI Product Strategy and Automation Engineer
Description

Our embedded banking solution helps business technology platforms provide secure banking experiences. We also partner with other banks, credit unions, and FinTechs to integrate compliant financial solutions. Thread Bank values innovation, collaboration, and flexibility, offering excellent benefits and a family-friendly culture.

What We Are Looking For

This role sits at the intersection of product management, software engineering, and business strategy. You will work alongside the Product Manager for AI Innovation to identify high-value automation opportunities, design human-in-the-loop workflows, and build AI-powered automations using tools like n8n. No prior deep technical experience is required. If you can “vibe code,” think clearly about problems, and want to ship things that matter, this role is for you. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI workflows, from discovery through deployment and iteration, with direct exposure to C-Suite stakeholders in a regulated banking environment where quality and compliance count.

We are looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced, growth environment while remaining within regulatory boundaries. Thread Bank provides a unique opportunity to be a part of a high growth, cutting edge, fintech startup within the stable and profitable banking industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to advance their career as the company grows.

What you'll do

  •  Design, build, and ship AI-powered workflows and automations (primarily in n8n) that integrate APIs, connectors, and AI models to deliver measurable improvements such as hours saved, cycle time reduced, and error rates lowered.
  •  Conduct stakeholder interviews, synthesize pain points into clear problem statements, run prioritization exercises (impact, effort, risk, confidence), and convert opportunities into well-scoped work with requirements, acceptance criteria, and rollout plans.
  •  Establish quality assurance and governance for AI-driven steps, including confidence thresholds, sampling, escalation paths, audit trails, and maintaining clean documentation and version control for all workflows and prompts.
  •  Monitor key performance indicators and internal customer feedback on shipped workflows; track and report automation impact (hours saved, dollars saved, volume processed) and present insights and recommendations to product leadership and cross-functional teams.
  •  Champion responsible AI practices by partnering closely with compliance and risk teams to ensure all workflows meet regulatory standards, and by delivering example projects such as CCO intake and scoring workflows, AI-assisted operational review flows, and dashboards tying run volume and hours saved to leadership objectives.

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  •  Structured thinking and strong writing skills, including prompt engineering: able to turn messy inputs into clear problem statements, requirements, and prompts that produce reliable outputs, with clearly documented assumptions and decisions.
  •  Comfort with AI-assisted development (“vibe coding”): able to use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding assistants to prototype and build working software, validate results, and iterate quickly.
  •  Ability to build and ship AI workflows using n8n or similar automation platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, Make), connecting APIs, triggers, routing, approvals, notifications, and transforms into functioning end-to-end processes.
  •  Basic data literacy: able to work in Excel or Sheets, perform back-of-the-envelope opportunity sizing (volume per month, minutes per case, hours saved), and translate that into dollars saved with explicit assumptions.
  •  High ownership and bias toward action: demonstrated experience taking something from idea to working output, communicating effectively, handling ambiguity, and thinking through QA, edge cases, documentation, and rollout so solutions actually get used.
  •  Growth mindset, resilience, and commitment to continuous learning at the intersection of AI, product, and financial technology (fintech).

Preferred (nice to have)

  •  Hands-on experience with n8n, Power Automate, Zapier, or Make.
  •  Familiarity with Python, SQL, JSON, and reading/interpreting API documentation.
  •  Experience with product management practices (requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria).
  •  Interest in governance, risk, compliance, or other regulated environments.
  •  Interest in management consulting, strategy consulting, or business operations.
  •  Experience with or working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language models, and responsible AI practices.
