Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. No lifeguard experience? No problem, we’ll train you! 


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Join our team as a Swim Instructor and help individuals of all ages develop essential swimming skills in a safe and supportive environment. This role offers the opportunity to teach at both our indoor pool at the Y and the outdoor Stillwater City Pool during the summer, providing a dynamic and rewarding experience for passionate swim educators.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct group swim lessons for children, teens, and adults, tailored to various skill levels
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising activities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote skill development, water safety, and confidence
  • Maintain a clean and organized pool area, adhering to health and safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with participants and parents regarding progress and safety guidelines
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners and ensure an inclusive environment

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
  • Must be 16 years of age and show technical ability in swim skill instruction
  •  Previous experience teaching swim lessons or working with groups in a aquatic setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and encourage participants of all ages
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of water safety practices and swimming techniques
Salary Description
$11.50 per hour
