Texas Regional Physicians is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Collections Manager to oversee and optimize the personal injury revenue cycle process. This role is responsible for managing personal injury accounts, coordinating with attorney offices, monitoring settlements, and ensuring timely reimbursement for services rendered under Letters of Protection (LOP).
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in medical billing, personal injury collections, lien management, and revenue cycle operations, along with the ability to lead processes that improve collections performance and account resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the collection of personal injury accounts and Letters of Protection (LOP) balances.
- Maintain regular communication with attorney offices, insurance carriers, and patients regarding account status and settlement activity.
- Monitor aging reports and settlement timelines to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Track and manage liens, settlement agreements, and attorney documentation related to personal injury claims.
- Ensure accurate documentation and follow-up activity within the practice management system.
- Work collaboratively with billing, medical records, scheduling, and revenue cycle teams to resolve account discrepancies.
- Identify opportunities to improve collections processes, workflows, and revenue cycle performance.
- Provide guidance and oversight for personal injury collection activities within the department.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal policies related to patient financial information.
- Assist leadership with reporting and analysis related to personal injury collections performance.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle management
- Strong experience with personal injury billing, liens, and Letters of Protection (LOP)
- Experience working with attorney offices and settlement processes preferred
- Experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of medical billing, collections, and revenue cycle processes
- Knowledge of personal injury claims, settlement processes, and lien management
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with practice management systems, Microsoft Office, and data tracking tools
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
