Description

The Buyer is responsible for the purchasing and coordination of products, machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, services, and supplies necessary to support company operations. This role manages purchasing activities, supplier coordination, and the maintenance of purchasing records to ensure accurate and efficient procurement processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the purchasing of products, machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, services, and supplies necessary for company operations
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery information
  • Source and evaluate suppliers and support pricing and cost management initiatives
  • Prepare purchase orders and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, documentation, and related files
  • Collaborate with operations and internal departments regarding purchasing needs, order status, and product availability
  • Maintain accurate supplier and product information within company systems
  • Support inventory and procurement activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of industrial or manufacturing purchasing processes and supplier management
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Experience working within an ERP system preferred; Epicor Prophet 21 experience a plus
  • Experience working with SharePoint or similar document management systems preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting preferred
