Behavioral Health Technician - Adolescent Program - Multiple Openings
Description

$23–$25/hour | Full-Time, Part-Time & Per Diem | Penngrove, CA

Day, Evening, Overnight & Weekend Shifts | Shift Differentials Available

About the Role:

Support teen girls ages 12–17 in our primary mental health residential program. This is a direct care and mentorship role—ideal for people passionate about youth development, psychology, or counseling. You'll work alongside therapists and licensed clinicians, providing daily therapeutic support, skills coaching, and supervision. No medical or clinical license required—we provide full training.

Our Penngrove residents are working through anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, and challenges related to neurodivergence. You'll build meaningful relationships while supporting their daily routines and emotional growth in a calm, structured environment.

Why Join Us:

  • Direct care role—not a clinical or medical technician position
  • Smaller, relationship-centered program for teen girls
  • Focus on primary mental health: anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence
  • Full training provided—no prior experience needed
  • Career path in behavioral health, counseling, or human services

What You'll Do:

  • Provide therapeutic support and skills coaching under direction of licensed clinicians
  • Support daily therapeutic programming and client engagement
  • Build rapport and provide consistent, calm presence for teens navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma
  • Support residents through daily routines: meals, activities, self-care, and recreation
  • Monitor resident safety and provide one-on-one support when needed
  • Use de-escalation techniques during emotional moments
  • Support residents with disordered eating through mealtime structure and encouragement
  • Communicate with clinical staff about resident progress during shift handoffs
  • Transport residents to appointments and outings (clean CA license required)
  • Document behaviors and observations per program requirements
Requirements

What We're Looking For:

Must Have:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid CA driver's license with clean record
  • First Aid/CPR certified (or willing to obtain)
  • Calm, patient, and reliable—teens depend on consistent support
  • Comfortable supporting young women through emotional challenges

Preferred:

  • Coursework or degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
  • Experience working with teens, in residential settings, or mental health programs
  • Familiarity with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, or neurodivergent populations
